The La Quinta Museum presents the history and cultural arts of the area through displays on two levels. Visitors can view a diorama of a Cahuilla Indian village and another display showcasing native animals. The museum also features photographs of early resorts, reminding visitors of the desert's early appeal. The community room exhibits a 32-foot-long mural of La Quinta highlights painted by Andre Blanche. Don't forget to visit the Museum Store, where you can purchase books on the area and unique items created by local artists. The museum has two galleries, Gallery 1 which focuses on local history showcasing Cahuilla Indians, The Desert Club and The La Quinta Hotel and Gallery 2 which features revolving exhibits that change every 3-4 months.

Historial Society

The La Quinta Historical Society is a volunteer-based non-profit organization that aims to preserve and promote the rich history of La Quinta. They do this by collecting archives and artifacts related to the history of La Quinta, providing educational programs, and implementing community outreach programs. They strive to reach people of all ages, backgrounds and socio-economic groups, both residents and visitors, in order to connect the present and future with the treasured history of La Quinta.
