1) View The Large Koi Fish: As you glance into the lake you will notice many different colors swimming through the water. Koi fish, up to 3 feet in size lurk the blue waters of the lake, really adding some ambiance as you cross over the central bridge. It is not recommended to feed the fish, ducks, or turtles.

2) Go For A Walk: There are circular walking paths featured around the park perimeter and one main lane (bridge) that cuts through the lake area. Offering a great way for you to get your steps in for the day while appreciating the as pretty as a picture scenic views. It is common that visitors bring their dog companions, make sure to follow the rules, and have your dog on a leash at all times to avoid any fines.

3) Play A Game Of Chess: Nestled in the park you will find a recreational, life-sized chessboard. This game set is free to play for all visitors and is an excellent way to kill time with friends or family. *The chess board has not returned to the park since the COVID-19 restrictions.

4) Picnic In The Grass: A greenbelt recreationally used area of the park often hosts families who set up a picnic blanket. The size is large enough for multiple families to have space. It is common I see children tossing or kicking a ball around.

5) Visit The Library: The city of La Quinta’s library is located onsite at the Civic Center Park. Offering something for everyone.

6) Join The Fitness Center: Residents of La Quinta can subscribe to the onsite fitness center for an annually paid fee of $75. Non-Residents pay $125. I personally was a member of this gym before I moved to Palm Desert, and I was extremely satisfied. The equipment is state of the art, and there is always a staff member going around cleaning. The crowds were never unbearable, compared to many other local gyms I have tried over the years. Two entire walls are a window, which looks out to the park and lake.

7) Walk To Old Town La Quinta: A short 5-minute walk will lead you to Old Town, La Quinta, which offers a handful of excellent restaurants, entertainment, shopping, coffee, and more.
